Ryegrass Control in Wheat |
|||
| HERBICIDE | RATE/ACRE | WEEDS | RESTRICTIONS |
| Hoelon 3 EC |
1 1/3 - 1 1/2 pt for 1-4 leaf ryegrass 2 pt for 4-5 leaf ryegrass 2 2/3 pt for tillering ryegrass |
No tank mixes. Hoelon will kill oats. |
|
| Osprey |
4.75 oz. Adjuvant required |
Annual ryegrass at 1-leaf to 2 tillers. Also annual bluegrass suppresses cheat, henbit, and common chickweed. |
Wheat should be emerged to jointing stage. Broadleaf weeds should be 1-2 inches. Osprey will kill oats. |
| Axial |
8.2 oz. Adigor adjuvant at 9.6 oz. |
Ryegrass, 1 to 5 leaf prior to emergence of third tiller. |
Wheat from 2-leaf to pre-boot. |
|
Nitrogen on Wheat For well-tillered wheat apply 65-70 units (140-150 lbs. urea) in mid-February and another 65-70 units in about 3-4 weeks or about mid-March. For a three-way split, apply 46 units of nitrogen (100 lbs. Urea) in mid-February followed by the same amount in two-week intervals, finishing by mid-March. If ammonium sulfate is used, apply it with the first nitrogen application. A blend of 50-100 lbs. of ammonium sulfate plus urea (enough to get your nitrogen rate up) will suffice for your first application. For late planted wheat, consider starting your fertilizer application in early February. Three applications should be used in this situation. Also, a blend of 100 lbs. DAP (18-46-0) and 50 lbs. urea would be a good start for smaller, less tillered wheat. |

Notes: |
|
| (1) Early N should be applied preflood or a portion of the early N can be flushed in. | |
| (2) Midseason N may be applied in a single application between beginning internode elongation and 1/2 inch internode elongation. | |
|
Rice Nitrogen Rates: |
|
| (1) Increase early N by 30 lbs/A if rice is grown on a clay soil. | |
| (2) Increase early N by 20 lbs/A if rice follows rice or cotton, and/or if stand counts are less than 10 plants per square foot. | |
| (3) Increase early N by 10 lbs/A if rice follows grain sorghum, corn or wheat. | |
| (4) Decrease early N by 10 lbs/A if rice follows fallow or setaside. | |
